Downtime and planning
A van off the road costs money, and a long journey adds to that. Send the registration, mileage, how the van is used and any warning lights or faults first. We will check support for the engine and gearbox, and if the van has a fault we will talk about diagnosis rather than tuning so you can plan accordingly.
For fleets, each van still needs its own check — software versions and condition can differ between vehicles that look identical on paper.
Common van models
Our model pages cover the vans we are asked about most often. Each explains the model-specific considerations.
How we approach a van remap from outside Manchester
We start with suitability rather than a sales pitch. Before any calibration is written to a control unit we want to know the vehicle is healthy: existing fault codes, boost or fuelling problems, a slipping clutch, a worn gearbox or a blocked DPF all need to be dealt with first, because tuning is not a substitute for repair and can make an existing weakness more obvious.
Where the vehicle is supported we explain what the proposed calibration is intended to change, what checks are needed and what the agreed scope of work includes. We do not publish universal power, torque or fuel-economy figures, because results depend on the individual vehicle, its condition, its software and how it is driven. If a remap is not the right answer for your vehicle, we will tell you.
Planning the journey for customers from outside Greater Manchester
We are one workshop in north Manchester. We do not have branches elsewhere in the UK and we do not offer mobile remapping, so customers from outside Greater Manchester either drive to us or arrange transport. That is a real commitment, and we do not want anyone to make a long journey for work that turns out to be unsuitable. Send the registration, mileage and a description first; we will check support and talk through the likely scope before you book a date.
For a longer journey, please plan the timing with us. A remap or diagnostic visit can take several hours depending on the vehicle and what the checks reveal, and some work may not be completed in a single day if a fault is found. If the vehicle has a fault that makes a long drive unwise — limp mode, a flashing warning, an AdBlue countdown near zero or a coolant leak — arrange transport rather than driving it.
What to send us before booking a van remap from outside Manchester
The quickest way to get useful advice is to send the registration and a short description by WhatsApp or through the quote form. Support and suitability vary by engine, gearbox, control unit and software version, so a registration lets us check the right information instead of guessing. Any estimate given remotely is provisional until the vehicle has been seen and the required checks are complete.
