Why some drivers travel to a single workshop
Remapping is easy to buy and harder to do well. Much of the risk in tuning comes not from the software itself but from applying it to a vehicle that is not ready for it — an engine with a fault, a clutch that is already slipping, a DPF that is struggling, or a gearbox at the edge of its torque limit. A careful approach means checking those things first, explaining what the calibration is intended to change, saving the original software and keeping the emissions equipment in place.
Some drivers decide that approach is worth a journey, particularly for vehicles they rely on for work or that have had problems elsewhere. Others are better served locally. We are happy to talk through your situation honestly before you commit to anything.

Every service we offer is carried out at the Manchester workshop. The core services for customers travelling from further afield are ECU remapping, gearbox (TCU) remapping, van remapping and DPF cleaning with diagnostics. How a typical UK enquiry works
1. Send details
Registration, mileage, the work you are interested in and any warning lights, symptoms or previous modifications. WhatsApp is usually the quickest route.
2. Check suitability
We check support for your engine, gearbox and software version and ask questions about condition and usage. If the vehicle does not look suitable, we will say so before you travel.
3. Agree timing
We agree a date and time that suits the length of your journey, and explain what the visit involves and how long it may take.
4. Workshop checks
At the workshop we carry out the necessary checks. If a fault is found, we explain it and you decide how to proceed before any tuning.
5. Agreed work
Only the agreed scope of work is carried out. The original software is saved before any changes.
What we do not offer
We do not offer mobile or at-home remapping anywhere in the UK, we have no other branches, and we do not supply remap files by post or download. We do not publish universal power, torque or fuel-economy figures, and we do not offer DPF, EGR or AdBlue deletes for road vehicles. A missing factory-fitted DPF is an MOT failure, and our non-road emissions page explains our restrictions in full.
We also do not collect vehicles. If you want your vehicle transported to us, you arrange that with a transport provider; we are happy to talk to you about timing so the vehicle arrives when we are ready for it.
Arriving at the workshop
When you arrive after a long drive, call us from the gate so we can let you in. If you have travelled a distance, please let the engine idle briefly before switching off if the vehicle may have been regenerating its DPF, and tell us about anything unusual you noticed on the journey — new warning lights, smells, noises or changes in performance. Those details are useful for the checks we carry out before any work, and occasionally they change what we recommend.
Greater Manchester and the North West
If you are closer to home, our Greater Manchester pages cover Oldham, Salford, Stockport, Trafford, Tameside, Rochdale, Bury and Bolton, with local routes to the workshop. The areas we cover page lists every location.
How we approach a remap from outside Manchester
We start with suitability rather than a sales pitch. Before any calibration is written to a control unit we want to know the vehicle is healthy: existing fault codes, boost or fuelling problems, a slipping clutch, a worn gearbox or a blocked DPF all need to be dealt with first, because tuning is not a substitute for repair and can make an existing weakness more obvious.
Where the vehicle is supported we explain what the proposed calibration is intended to change, what checks are needed and what the agreed scope of work includes. We do not publish universal power, torque or fuel-economy figures, because results depend on the individual vehicle, its condition, its software and how it is driven. If a remap is not the right answer for your vehicle, we will tell you.
Planning the journey for customers from outside Greater Manchester
We are one workshop in north Manchester. We do not have branches elsewhere in the UK and we do not offer mobile remapping, so customers from outside Greater Manchester either drive to us or arrange transport. That is a real commitment, and we do not want anyone to make a long journey for work that turns out to be unsuitable. Send the registration, mileage and a description first; we will check support and talk through the likely scope before you book a date.
For a longer journey, please plan the timing with us. A remap or diagnostic visit can take several hours depending on the vehicle and what the checks reveal, and some work may not be completed in a single day if a fault is found. If the vehicle has a fault that makes a long drive unwise — limp mode, a flashing warning, an AdBlue countdown near zero or a coolant leak — arrange transport rather than driving it.
What to send us before booking a remap from outside Manchester
The quickest way to get useful advice is to send the registration and a short description by WhatsApp or through the quote form. Support and suitability vary by engine, gearbox, control unit and software version, so a registration lets us check the right information instead of guessing. Any estimate given remotely is provisional until the vehicle has been seen and the required checks are complete.
- 01Vehicle registration and approximate mileage
- 02Make, model and engine size, if known
- 03Any warning lights, messages, symptoms or fault codes
- 04Existing remaps, tuning boxes or hardware modifications
- 05How the vehicle is used — commuting, towing, short trips or heavy loads
- 06Whether the vehicle is currently in limp mode or will not start
Visiting the workshop for a remap from outside Manchester
All work is carried out at our single workshop at Unit 2, Lancaster Works, Kingsbridge Road, Manchester M9 5SP. We do not run a mobile remapping service and we have no other branches, so every a remap from outside Manchester enquiry is booked into the same Manchester workshop. Visits are by arrangement: please call or WhatsApp before travelling so we can confirm the vehicle, the time and what the visit will involve.
Access is through the black gate. Call when you arrive so we can let you in, then keep left towards the rear of the site. We are open Monday to Friday 8am–6pm and Saturday 8am–1pm, and closed on Sunday. If the vehicle is in limp mode, showing a serious warning or will not start, tell us before setting off so we can talk about whether it is sensible to drive it or whether transport should be arranged.
